The U.S. Senate is considering a bill that would prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation. Opponents argue that a new law would create too many lawsuits and would give gays special protections, but the bill's sponsor, Sen. Edward Kennedy, said there was "irrefutable and compelling evidence of employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, and we must respond."
