Sitting inside on a gorgeous day printing reports for MNSTF's taxes. Guess I shoulda done it midweek. Since my formerly trusty HP LaserJet 4L is missing a line, I pressed the LexMark Z51 into service. This required screwing around cleaning the jets because they always seem to clog up. Got it working and it's printing a transaction detail summarized by category report for Minicon 35 even as I type. Aint the wonders of the modern world just great? And where is that air car they promised me in 1957?

Oops, time for a new report...

Say, Drewan, where am them Minicon ads? Git your butt offa that game console... And how do you like the Crowne Plaza Northstar for Minicon 38?

Work. Work. Work.

Went to the new La Bodega with Joyce (after deciding bridge wasn't in the cards, still coughing too much) and Laura. Parking was a bitch. I coulda walked from home. When I got there, the restaurant was almost empty and a band was starting to set up. Two bad signs in a restaurant. By the time we left, the place was packed. Food was good, a mite trendy, and the band was too loud.

This is the Bodega on the corner of Lyndale and Lake, not the one on Lyndale. We'd originally planned on going to the 3 Muses on Lyndale, but when I called for reservations, they said they wuz full. I frantically e-mailed everyone and said we can't go there. Then I called Bodega, got a woman who spoke English not as a native language who first played 5 questions to make sure I didn't want the tapas Bodega just around the corner. They gave me the reservation for 7:00, so I immediately e-mailed everyone the directions, and finished up a few things before dashing madly out the door at work around 6:30. Hmm, cute boy on skate board being towed by motorcycle -- not something you usually see in Mpls in January...

Anyway, when I got to the restaurant after a thorough tour of the streets looking for parking, it was already 7:10 and no one was there. I got a table, left my hat & gloves and ran over to the Tapas place (unaware of the door that connect the two inside), and was about ready to launch an expedition down Lyndale to the 3 Muses if Laura didn't show up. But, by 7:15 or so everybody had arrived.

Our waiter had soul catcher (I think that's what they're called). Needed tighter pants and shirt.

I had a salad and lobster pasta, Joyce had a white bean soup and risotto, Laura had the lobster pasta. We each had a dessert and and together consumed a bottle of Sangiovese. By the time we were about ready to leave, the waiter came begging for our table. He said he'd make it worth our while, and while Laura and I did not think he was as hot as the waiter at Barbettes with the locks on his pant legs, I was willing to wait to see what kind of an offer he came up with. Nobody else was, however, so we left. I guess I'll never know what he would have been willing to do for our table (sigh).

Afterwards, Laura and came back here and worked on a budget for Minicon 38. I pulled something I've not done for ages, closed an application and lost a spreadsheet I'd been working on for quite some time. (groan)

The ghods will punish us. We don't deserve this weather. That's why I'm staying inside. Yep.
