Offa work today! Yeah! I was thinking about K-Pax, but A.O. Scott reamed it a new orifice in today's New York Times, and even the local reviewer was unimpressed. This is not good news. There was a good short review of a Canadian werewolf movie that's playing there.. Ginger Snaps. Of course, I could always work on the basement...

On retrospect, I'm less and less impressed with the Microsoft Rollout yesterday. The streams/fireworks at the start was probably the highlight. Now if I woulda won a copy of Windows XP...

1. They aimed the presentation at the home user. Who's at Microsoft rollouts? Corporate customers and IT people. Home users watch TV ads. Missing the audience is a terribly huge mistake.

2. The cute guy with the guitar. SSB was sorta kinda almost cute, but as their demo problems rose later on in the day, the camcorder would not load in XP, and he was unable to stop the failed load, the cute guy got the guitar again. The punted and cut the demo, got the cheerleaders out (all female, sigh), and started giving away the freebies, (first they killed time by reading the list, but the camcorder still would not load). The cute guy with the guitar kept doing string things and riffs like people with guitars do when they launched into the giveaways. Now ifn he'd been Jimmy Hendricks, it still would not have much to do with Windows XP, and finally, one of the Microsoft guys came up on stage to (I think) get him to stop, waay into the drawings of freebies.

3. They're third mistake was to announce that you didn't hafta be there to win. Of course, they didn't announce this until after they cut out the camera demo and started drawing the prizes. Grr...

Note to self: Drink an espresso before going to see digital movies with low nekkid men counts. Those things you sleep through leave little impression on the mind.

Damn! it's cold out there! Biked up to the Lagoon at 1:20 to see Together, then ambled over to the Uptown to see Waking Life. I was gonna go see K-Pax until I read the reviews. Board meeting tonight, Thong wants to go get groceries now, and it's too close to the board meeting. They've got a flu shot clinic, something I need too, but I'm gonna wait and get it at the clinic.

Tomorrow, I've got a raft of tickets to DigiFest, a Minicon Meeting at 2:30,  which I thought was later, a MNSTF meeting at 5, an event at the Southdale Library, and two, count 'em two parties to go to. 1) Kelly, my ex's ex before my ex met me, and 2) the MNSTF party at Dreampark. And, I bought a black leather mask... wooo.

Your Viking Name is... Leiðólfr Goatcrusher Your Viking Personality: You're a fearsome Viking, but you aren't completely uncivilized. The other Vikings make fun of you for that. You have a thirst for battle -- unfortunately, you're not terribly good at it. You're not a very fearsome fighter; in fact, you'd probably bleed to death if a sword hit your shadow. You might grumble a bit at the lack of amenities on board a Viking longboat, but you can handle it. Other Vikings consider you "one of the guys". You don't have a lot of tact, so it's lucky Vikings never cared much for diplomacy. Other people tend to think of you as manipulative and conniving.
