Dragged Laurel out of her apartment and went out to an open house in Mound yesterday. Drove around the lake -- wind, hair, sun, top off -- and spent the afternoon nattering in their backyard. Ustta work with one of them at Lord Fletchers. My neighbor took his big Cigarette boat out, and I got his phone number in case, we needed more excitement, but we never made it. Stopped at Laurel's parent's house and looked at all the flowers in their yard. In the shade, with the sun lowering, the sweet potato vines and a few ground covers seemed almost phosphorescent light lime green. We walked down to the lake, but the bugs wuz bad by the water. I drove back on 7, from further out than I ustta drive when I went daily back and forth to Fletchers. The sprawl continues. It was a nice and quiet way to end the summer.
Decided I'm going to get three bi-fold doors for the basement. Louvered. Have to cut the eight-foot opening down by six inches. Three 30 inch doors, two facing each other to get to the furnace, and one to get to the other side of the furnace. The air-cleaner is at the four-foot mark, but a five-foot span will clear it. Still have the floor to go and to finish off the wiring. And figure out how to lay a floor under the 175 gallon aquarium set up by the chimney.
I was going to get the doors yesterday, but never quite got around to it. Chased instead after some beverages. Hennepin Lake Liquors, my local provider, was closed for the holiday. I had to chase down the Chicago Lake Liquors, but they had Mike's Lemonade for Laurel, and some Woodpecker cider for me. Then Kelly called, who'd been hiding in Chicago with Andrew, and asked where the hell I was. So, we wandered out for a drink to the Uptown Bar & Grill, which was not packed with hunky men.
Vern and Ernie, the who have been working on my basement project, wuz working on his basement project. Kelly's been planning his basement conversion ever since he bought the house and moved out of here. Hmm, and I was just about convinced it was never going to happen.
