The mango juice we got in That Other Country someone informed us, was Asian mango juice. It was a wee bit thin and flavorless, but it was great for mixing with champagne because it didn't stomp all over the grapes. The American mango juice we bought at Bill's was incredibly richer, redder, and sweeter.

Read about more mangos than you ever knew existed, (mourning all the ones marked not available in the U.S.)"

I've eaten them in Viet Nam. They taste oddly different there, kinda like vine ripened tomatoes, only different. Of course, it's hard when somebody's whole family likes green mangoes with salt and hot pepper...

Most of our mangoes are supposed to be from some crappy cast iron Florida extension service mango that was bred for shipping and pest resistance.

Do you get the Manila mangos in MN, the small yellow ones? They have very smooth, fiber-free flesh, very tasty, though I don't know how they compare to some of those South American ones that sound just divine. Makes me almost willing to travel there.

Sounds like what agribusiness did to tomatoes.
