There is something about being outside a place you really like when you're trying to save money. If WorldCon was not around the corner, I'd be in heaven, but I'm trying to conserve spending, and being just outside Chicago dosen't help. Sigh.

The training has gotten over around four each day, so it's just perfect rush hour time to head into Chicago, although I guess I'd be going against most of the traffic, and then I'd be incouraged to spend money. (I'd rather spend it in California.)

Deerfield. Suburban upscale malls. Ravinia festival. Botanic gardens. But no Boystown. I'm even on the wrong edge of town for Ikea.

When I took the job I'm currently at, they dangled chances to travel in front of me. Most of the training we do is either in Europe or Asia/Australia. So, the first trip I get out of them is for Flash MX training in Chicago. Well, Deerfield, IL. Did I check what they'd pay for? Heck no. Better than three days at the office complaining about the software I'm waiting for. At the class, we're building a website out of Flash. What I want to use it for is tutorials, but the knowledge should transfer.
