I made chocolate covered hedgehogs for a Hallowe'en party once. Cake bases but I can remember what was on the bases to shape the body and stick the almonds in. The whole thing then covered in chocolate. I used to have a lot more energy.
Do it as a savory: carve a sweet potato into the right shape, used slivered almonds for the prickles and black currants for the eyes, and serve it in a yellow squash soup.
