i get the digest version of smofs. saves my sanity, i tell you. i read the toc and think "well, still not talking about anything i care about, or if they are, they're not doing it in a useful fashion" and hit delete.

but I do use Mark All as Read a lot. these current flamewars seemed semisane when they ignited, but are now well into a full burn. sigh don't these people have conventions to run? jobs? lives? O! wait. you don't hafta answer that.

That elevator thing is so not exclusively fannish. When I had little kids in strollers and sometimes even wheelchairs, I'd have the damnedest time getting them out of an elevator at the mall, because people would start crowding in as soon as the doors opened, or would stand in front of the doors so they'd be sure to get in--but no one could get out to make room for them.
