Aug. 31st, 2001 07:53 amEnd of August. End of summer, worse, start of the heating season... well, OK. It's still a few months off, I hope.
Waffling on the roof. Found a contractor who actually listens before he makes a bid. He researched what I wanted and came up with a bid for it. I'd like to add insulation under the new roof above the roof boards. I've watched just too many episodes of This Old House. Then, when or if I ever redo the third floor, I can yank out the baby attic in the main room, apply a thin layer of insulation (well, OK, the roof is almost true 2X6's), drywall and put bead board up to the peak. And eliminate the constant ice dam problem. And further cut the heating bills. Of course, this isn't all cheap. Most contractors seem to think I'm confusing watershield with insulation. Hmm...
