Two supposedly good movies open in Uptown Friday

THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA
When his best friend's body is found in the Texas desert and reburied in Van Horn's town cemetery, local ranch hand Pete Perkins (Tommy Lee Jones, making his directorial debut) is determined to make good on a promise.

TRANSAMERICA
Bree (Felicity Huffman, Emmy winner for her role as Lynette on Desperate Housewives) is a genetic male living as a woman, waiting for an operation to become fully female. One day she receives a phone call from a son she never knew she had.

Shamelessly ripped off from the Landmark flyer.

Oh, there's also Anthony Hopkins flopping around on motorcycles, if that turns your crank.

One achieves Edina; one doesn't damn it.

I really want to see Transamerica. I hadn't heard of the other one, but now I really want to see it, too. (The desert + Tommy Lee Jones?!?!!?!?!?)

I've heard good things about Transamerica and Hopkins seemed very chuffed about World's Fastest Indian during his appearance on The Daily Show.

Transamerica

Felicity Huffman was excellent in Transamerica, and Kevin Zegers was also very good - both as an actor and as eye candy. Terrific script, highly recommend.

Did you see Bad Education?

Bad Education... yes, I own a DVD of it...
