Catalpa

When I first went outside yesterday, the catalpa tree in the front yard still had it's leaves. When I came home from work, they were scattered all over the yard.

Probably why the catalpa has fallen out of favor as an urban tree, while the locust (whose leaves dry up into small frito-shaped crisps and just blow away; one need not rake them) is found everywhere.

When the catalpa blooms, we know it's really summer, and so is, I think, a highly valuable barometer.

Thank you. I was anxiously awaiting the Catalpa Report.
